Characteristics of aluminum hydroxide flame retardant

Aluminum hydroxide flame retardant is an important auxiliary agent that can make the material flame retardant, self-extinguishing and smoke suppressing, and can effectively improve the performance of the material. Flame retardants can usually be divided into two categories: organic and inorganic. Among them, brominated flame retardants are one of the most widely used organic flame retardants. They have the advantages of high flame retardant efficiency, small amount of addition required in flame retardant materials, and wide application range. They play an important role in the field of flame retardancy. However, brominated flame retardants also have the disadvantages of seriously reducing the anti-ultraviolet stability of flame retardant substrates and producing more smoke, corrosive gases and toxic gases during combustion.

1. Excellent flame retardant and smoke suppression performance - dehydration and decomposition under heat, after dehydration, an A1203 protective film is generated on the surface of the combustible material to isolate oxygen, reduce the concentration of combustible gas and oxygen, effectively inhibit the temperature rise and thermal degradation of the polymer, inhibit the generation of smoke through adsorption, make it carbonized and not easy to produce combustible volatiles, prevent combustion, and is suitable for processing composite materials with a molding temperature below 200°C.


2. Good insulation performance - the fluidized purification process greatly reduces the content of impurity ions such as iron, sodium and potassium.


3. High whiteness - does not interfere with the dyeing of composite products.


4. Low iron - the content is less than double zero five (i.e. 0.005%).


5. Low sodium - the content is less than 0.15


Aluminum hydroxide inorganic flame retardant has the advantages of relatively good thermal stability, no corrosive gas, non-volatile, long-lasting effect, no toxicity, low price, etc., and has little harm to the environment. Therefore, based on the requirements of environmental protection and fire protection, inorganic flame retardants with good environment will gradually replace halogen-containing organic flame retardants. The main varieties of inorganic flame retardants are aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide, zinc borate, antimony trioxide, etc.


Aluminum hydroxide is rich in sources, much cheaper than brominated flame retardants, stable physical and chemical properties at room temperature, non-toxic, and will not produce secondary pollution during combustion. It is praised as a pollution-free flame retardant at home and abroad. It not only has a high whiteness value, but also has excellent chromaticity indicators.
